Our plans for Bolton's indoor skatepark
Our Vision
Bolton is a town with incredible sporting heritage, from Sir Jason Kenny to Amir Khan, and a skateboarding tradition stretching back nearly 50 years. Yet more than 1 in 4 of its adults are physically inactive, almost half its children live in poverty, and there is no indoor skatepark to serve our 233,000 residents of skating age.
We're establishing a Social Enterprise to change that: an affordable, inclusive facility where people get active, find community, and discover what they're capable of, whatever their age, background, or ability.
bearings isn't a new idea for Bolton. It's a revival of something this town has known and valued for generations, built on a proud skateboarding heritage that belongs to all of us.
For all wheels, for all abilities, for all.
Our community is everything and our indoor skatepark will be built around you
At bearings, we are passionate about skateboarding and its positive effects on our health, wellbeing and community value. We will build a dedicated community for skaters of all levels, whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics or an advanced skater aiming to perfect your tricks. bearings will offer a safe inclusive space to develop your skills, connect with others and provide expert guidance and support to help you progress.
What you have already told us
In a recent survey of our skateboarding community, we uncovered lots of important information which is helping us design and shape our park. You said;
“Having a safe place to skate all year round would improve my skills and help me feel closer to other skaters”
“An indoor skatepark in Bolton would revive the skate scene, bring new people into it and help build the community back up”
“I believe a new skatepark would inspire people to start and take them away from being on the streets.”
“it will open doors for the community and the town itself akin to what note and projekts has done to Manchester and also shredenhams to Bristol. A place to regroup, feel safe and express creativity whichever way it feels necessary.”
Tell us what you think
Your views will help shape our skatepark. Complete our survey to tell us more about you, what you think, your thoughts and ideas. The survey is completely anonymous and the responses will help us make our decisions.
